Asanas are a seat or root where we cultivate that understanding that sufferings are the form of life; but face them with a smile by bringing front with the knowledge that these pains and sufferings are just not true and it's mind created. Life and world exists always there surrounded me and what I takes it with pain or smile it's not gonna change anything in the flow of world. If I smiles then it's just I smiles; if I pains then just myself pains. Always Asana helps to find that strength to face the life with courage and smile.
Also, Asanas are a root place where to cultivate mindfulness too. It's not just a space where we sweat a lot and workouts. It's mostly working on our pains where can face with smile and breath; that only gains when the mindfulness and knowledge adds it's parts. Without that even though we do asanas as a workout, it's not gonna help to lead the self to be liberalized.
